Batman with my Bestfriend

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1345836/
Batman is my favorite superhero. Yes, since I was a kid, I used to watched the cartoons.  Of course I didn't miss the previous Batman films.

The new series of the dark knight movies are modern and more mature.  I guess to keep up with those kids who liked batman, who are adults now.  I must say, I liked Christian Bale for Bruce Wayne.  Except for his voice when he puts his mask on.   And, The Dark Knight Rises is a good ending for the trilogy. Though, the makers can still make another film or two...

I cannot even remember the last time that I watched a movie with my bestfriend.  It was way too long already.  But this night, I got my birthday gift from her! My wish, for us to have a night out, just the two of us. Yey! The baby was left with her Papa so I was less worried.

My favorite superhero with my favorite person.  A very good "post" birthday treat.

Movie After Five Months

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0948470/
Before, we would watch a movie almost once, every week. That was our date.  But  the last movie that we watched was The Vow.  This was a week before I gave birth.

After five months, my sister volunteered to babysit Euen so that we can watch, The Amazing Spiderman. Yey!  It felt like a first date, in an actual movie house. Haha!

Well, I liked this Peter Parker better than Tobey Maguire.  But, can I just wish that there'll be a Spiderman without Uncle Ben dying. Just a hopeful thinking.  I guess it won't be a Spiderman if that will be the case.

Because we needed to come back as soon as possible for the baby, we didn't even eat dinner.  We just got a Mc Donald's drive thru and ate at home.

Ohana

Sister in Singapore emails me and tells me she might not be able to be home on New Year.

I told little sister this is what she said.
No! "Ohana!"
She said it in an anxious and panic-mode, but merciful tone, like a little angel brat. Yes, it's contradicting, I couldn't explain either. So I asked her what Ohana means.

It's from Lilo and Stitch, "Ohana" means family. Family means nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten.
Either she comes here or we go to her on New Year.

I couldn't contradict.
I told this to sister in Singapore.
She couldn't contradict either.
We'll find a way, after all, it's just April.

Love and Other Drugs

An addition to my favorite movies, Love and Other Drugs is about an "almost-perfect-but-isn't-aware-that-he-is guy" and a girl with Parkinson's disease.

I could relate to the fact that Jake Gyllenhaal's role is a medical representative, because my mom and my sister had/have the same profession.

The movie revolves around their journey to finding love and falling in love in the least expected circumstances. The last conversation made me cry.

Jamie: Unfortunately, I need you and you need me.
Maggie: No I don't...
Jamie: Yes you do... you need someone to take care of you.
Maggie: No I don't...
Jamie: Everybody does.
Maggie: I'm going to need you more than you need me.
Jamie: That's okay.
Maggie: No, it's not!! It isn't fair. I have places to go.
Jamie: You'll go there. I just may have to carry you.
Maggie: I can't ask you to do that...
Jamie: You didn't.. Let's just say, in some alternate universe, there's a couple that's just like us. Only she's healthy and he's perfect and their world is about how much money they're gonna spend on vacation, who's on a mad mood that day or whether he'll give it you on having a cleaning lady... I don't wanna be those people. I want us. You. This.

Sometimes the thing you want most doesn't happen and sometimes the thing you never expect to happen, does... I don't know - you meet thousands of people and none of them really touch you. And then you meet one person and your life is changed. Forever.

Universal Studios Singapore

Even though they were only on soft opening and the Battlestar Gallactica had to stop operations, we still decided that after all the trips here, Universal Studios was new so we had to go and see.

For SGD66, it had a 10 dollar meal voucher and a 5 dollar souvenir voucher because of the soft opening. Nice shows: Lights Camera Action Hosted by Steven Spielberg where you get to be in a major hurricane hit movie set. Waterworld, based on the movie, was a different live water show which I found amusing. Also Shrek 4-D Adventure. I had a chance to meet Alex and the gang and took some pictures.

My favorite rides were Revenge of the Mummy, indoor roller coaster like Hongkong Disneyland’s Space Mountain, but better. And Adventure Rapids, like Enchanted Kingdom’s Rio Grande Rapids, but so much better.

Food was affordable, which was unexpected. The 10 dollar voucher could be good for lunch already. Overall, it was a soft opening, there were many people but not too much to cause a queue of more than 50 minutes, at most. The one whole day was almost enough. I thought I’d just want to see it once, but then, we’ll see in the future...

August Rush

Saw it on DVD a few weeks ago when my sisters decided they’ve haven’t slept over our place for a while now. With Iko tucked in, the five of us found our places on the three mattresses on the floor, and pressed the play button.
August Rush. A film about little boy who searched for his parents and magically found his way to both of them. After 11 years and -- days of waiting: on an orphanage, a couple of struggles on the “outside” world, meeting Wizard and the little girl on the church, being a scholar on a prestigious music school and composing his masterpiece. Yes, music! He’s been hearing music ever since and he was hoping that if he played, his parents will hear him and they will find him.

I really liked the little boy who played August, Freddie Highmore. His other movies that I liked were Charlie and Chocolate Factory and Spiderwick Chronicles. But I fell in love with him this time.

The whole movie, we were touched by this little boy's struggles. The last scene when he turned around and found both his mom and dad in front of him, he just smiled. THE END. They didn’t even talk, or hugged, or kissed. Something all of us had been hoping to see. We ended up needing to hug to each other to feel better.

I was even hoping that I will be like Ironman. That after the credits, there will still one last scene. Wishful thinking...

Yes, I watched it for the second time. Hoping I missed the ending… nah!
